SUSD Update for Monday 1/9/23: All schools plan to be open tomorrow.
At this point the power is on at all of our schools and the road conditions allow for travel to all school sites, therefore all schools are planning to be open tomorrow, Monday January 9th. We are anticipating another storm this evening and will be tracking the travel and power conditions into the early morning. We will send an updated message tomorrow morning by 6AM to confirm school status and/or update you as needed.
Due to predicted weather conditions, the WM/INV Community Schools meeting will be rescheduled for Thursday, January 19, 2023 at 3:30pm in the Family Center.

THS, TES, and BBS will be open today, WMS/INV remain closed
As the roads are open, the power has returned, and the weather forecast for today is stable, Tomales High School, Tomales Elementary School, and Bodega Bay School will reopen today Friday 1/6/23. With the power is still out in Point Reyes Station, Inverness Park, and Inverness, West Marin School and Inverness School will remain closed.
NOTE: The THS transfer stop in Inverness has been moved from Vision Rd to the Inverness Post Office today for safety reasons.
We will continue to monitor the weather, power, and road conditions over the weekend and provide updates regarding school for next week. We will send an update by 6pm Sunday night with more information.
We continue to hope that we can reopen Shoreline Unified School District schools for Friday, January 6th, however we are still waiting for power to be returned across the district. Road and weather conditions for tomorrow are favorable for a return school, but we cannot confirm reopening until we know our schools will have power. After reviewing these conditions early tomorrow, we will make a final determination and inform families by 6AM.
Schools will be closed Thursday January 5th due to severe weather conditions.
Based on the current road conditions, as well as the anticipated increase in rainfall and high winds throughout the night, we are making the decision to close all Shoreline schools for tomorrow, Thursday January 5th. We will make up this school day on April 7th, our first emergency school closure day.
While we anticipate reopening schools on Friday January 6th, we will continue to monitor the weather and road conditions, as well as power outages, throughout the day tomorrow and provide an update by 6pm tomorrow night.
Based on our current road conditions and the expectation of increasingly severe weather this afternoon, we are moving to a minimum day schedule for today, Wednesday January 4th. All students should be picked up from school today by 12:30pm, and our buses will depart soon after that. We will continue to track the weather throughout the day, and will send another update regarding school for Thursday, January 5th by 6pm this evening.
Due to predicted weather conditions, the TES Community Schools meeting will be rescheduled for Wednesday, January 11, 2023 at 3pm in the Family Center.

In place of our Shoreline Parent Wellness Series (PWS) event for the month of December, we'd like to share a county-wide opportunity to learn more about trauma and resilience. As we are in the midst of the holiday season, a time of happiness and joy yet also tends to pull deep emotions, the Marin County Office of Education is hosting “Top TIPS for Supporting Kids in Times of Uncertainty and Stress” with author and national speaker Julie Kurtz. Her expertise in training on trauma and resilience promotes the concept of optimal brain integration maximizing the growth of our best selves. Julie has, in previous years, supported our staff with trauma-informed practices, giving us great perspective on how the brain and body operate in times of distress and how to use specific strategies that support coping and regulation. See attached flyer.
